You absolutely must, Golden sun is one of the greatest rpgs out there, if they are on the VC go buy them if not then try to get your hands on the game by any means you can, if you like 2d jrpgs you will definetely love the golden sun series.Īh! and here yet another sweet fact about the game: you can actually transfer your character and djinns from the first game to the second one by using the cable link system, i don't know how that feature would work on the VC but there are emulators for both pc and android that support this feature, there's a total of 8 playable characters and you can switch between them mid battle on any battle (on golden sun 2).Īlso just about every weapon has the ability to release an special effect, be it a status effect or a magic like attack that doesn't consume PP at all, so once you get these types of weapons you don't even have to worry about PP for ordinary fights.

The djinn system where you can actually switch classes during combat depending on which djinn powers you choose to use and therefore switch which combat psynergy are available mid battle It's also one of the very few rpgs where grinding is not necessary at all if you make sure to get all the djinns available in any given area, and also the fact that every single npc has something different to say and even more when you use mind read on them.Īlso that the psynergy's PP slowly recover as you walk through the overworld and in dungeons so if you ever run out of it you can just melee your way until you have enough PP to use psynergy again
To this day, i haven't found another rpg like the golden sun series where psynergy (golden sun's version of magic) plays an integral part in the exploration, meaning not only are you able to use multiple types of pysnergy in the overworld they are actually necessary to complete puzzles and dungeons.
So what i'm thinking is that these kids hear people wanting games from these console so they go on and google top list of games of these consoles and since in these list you can almost always find the same games regardless of which source you get these people just make the erroneous assumption that the gba library isn't that great, when in in reality it's quite possible one of the greatest if not the greatest library of game out there. I think it's less that they forgot that and more that these people are young and didn't actually experience these consoles, i don't think anyone who lived through the game boy era would say something like what op said about the lack of originality on the gba. People just forget about all the good games some of these consoles had. I bet VC sales just weren't that good and Nintendo felt it wasn't worth the effort to continue with that service.ĮDIT: lol people saying "kids today don't appreciate the classics" even though I've been playing Nintendo handhelds since the DMG came out. Hell, it was probably part of the reason Virtual Console wasn't carried over. But I don't know if there's a whole lot of demand for these games as many die-hards think there is. I have a GB sitting 10 feet away from me. The screen crunch ruins games like Super Mario Bros Deluxe which otherwise would be the definitive version and the best way to play Super Mario Bros and the Lost Levels. And on top of that, there's just limitations of the original hardware that are flat out irritating that aren't acceptable nowadays. Also a LOT of that library is third party and licensed games which will be difficult/expensive to get the rights to. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't think there is demand for it. There were a lot of great games for the GBA, but very few that were truly original to the system.Īs for GB, I think Nintendo isn't stupid and knows that pretty much anything can emulate Gameboy/GBC games nowadays. A lot of it are just remakes/enhanced versions of NES or SNES games.
